KDHE Hospital Capacity Dashboard Plagued with Accuracy Issues

KDHE's Hospital Capacity Data plagued with issues. Snapshot of chart showcases the need for decision intelligence from Cornerstone Data.

KDHE continues to be plagued with accuracy issues on their Hospital Capacity dashboard. Data Accuracy is a cornerstone of data maturity in an organization. It happens when reliable processes for data gathering and peer review are in place. You can see our original discussion here: Live! Analysis of Per Aspera in Ad Astra Part 1

As of December 3, KDHE’s Hospital Capacity shows a “Null” region in the dropdown box. Normally, Null means the underlying data has no region attached to it. In this case, almost half of the hospital data reported on the screen is impacted by this error. This renders any analysis almost meaningless. With increased concern regarding hospitalizations in Kansas, it is imperative that KDHE resolve their data issues and put peer review processes in place to ensure accurate data is published regularly.

We did not update hospital data due to this error – but you can see our previous analysis by region for Hospitals as well as cases and deaths here: COVID Key Metrics & Analysis.
